Age Guidelines

GUIDELINES TO HELP PARENTS UNDERSTAND OUR PROGRAMS

(Age guidelines may be adjusted when appropriate.)

Infant Program: for children 6 weeks through 12 months.

Waddler Program: for children 12 months through 18 months.

Toddler Program: for children 18 months through 30 months.

2 Year Old Nursery School: for children 30 months through 3 years old. Children complete this program in June, or if not 3 years old until September 1st or after, they may join the 3 Year Old Nursery School Class at the start of the school year.

3 Year Old Nursery School: for children who will turn 3 by December 31st in the Academic School Year.

PreKindergarten: for children who will turn 4 by December 31st in the Academic School Year.

Junior Kindergarten: for children who will turn 5 in the later months of the year, such as August through December 2015. Jr. Kindergarten is also for parents who feel their child would benefit from an additional year of school before entering Kindergarten; the “gift of time”.

Full Day Kindergarten: for children who will turn 5 by December 31st and are ready to move on to Kindergarten. Our Kindergarten program is an alternative to the public school Kindergarten and is available half or full day. Children may go on to First Grade following completion of this program.

After School Program: for Kindergartners who need care, available 3:30pm - 6:30pm, regularly or "as needed."

Homework Club: for 1st - 6th Graders, available 3pm - 6:30pm, regularly or "as needed." Region 10 busses transport to The Academy daily.

Supplemental Care Program (SCP): for families who need full-time, year-round, care. Children attend The Academy's Academic School Year program(s) while also being offered care from 6:30am-6:30pm during days when the school year is not in session such as holidays and vacation days. This program is open to 3 Year Old Nursery School through 6th graders and children may attend on an “as needed” basis.

Full Day “School Year” pricing includes all Supplemental Care Program days (SCP), which fall on days of child’s program.

Full Day “Year Round” pricing includes all Supplemental Care Program days (SCP) and all Summer Camp days, which fall on days of child’s program.

Holiday/Vacation/Snow Day Programs: Specially designed programs for these occasions, The Snow Day Program is for Kindergarten-6th Graders whose public school is closed on a given day.

Summer Camp: for children 3 Year Nursery School through 6th Grade, offered throughout the summer. Parents choose Hot Stuff for 3NS/PK, Adventure Camp with Jump Start Tutoring JK/K/1st, and Adventure Camp with Jump Start Tutoring for 2nd-6th.
