PARENT COMMUNICATION

Our school community is built on strong communication between home and school. Parents are viewed as the child’s “first teacher," and family experiences are shared and celebrated in the classroom.  Communication between parents and teachers is very important to your child’s positive experience in School.  We want parents to feel comfortable contacting their child’s teachers for anything, as well as feel open to contact the Head of School whenever desired.  Parents may call the school if they need immediate assistance and email if their need can be answered within 24 hours. Teachers only answer emails during times when not teaching, such as before/after school and/or during their lunch.

The Junior Academy, our Infant/Waddlers/Toddlers Programs

Upon bringing your child to school, we ask that you share pertinent information regarding your child and his/her time prior to coming to school that day.  Teachers like to know information regarding eating, quality of sleep, child’s disposition, health, exciting events, and any special needs or requests you may have for the day. An “All About Me Today” sheet with information specific to your child, is given at the end of the day, sharing the day’s events and activities, as well as information on snacks, Lunch Bunch, Nap/Rest Time, diapering/toileting, curricupum and "something to make you smile".

Teachers also write “Ask Me About” questions, (along with answers) for parents which are posted on the Toddler LifeCubby page, our parent communication portal. This gives parents pertinent information about happenings at school allowing parents to ask relevant questions, all the while knowing the answers they aim to elicit from children, thus fostering language development.

A Parent bulletin board is also located in each classroom, highlighting all the Program information such as: Classroom Calendar, Learning Experience Plans, Themes, Monthly Newsletter, Teacher Profiles, Reminders and more.

Teachers also enter parents' cell phones in their cell phone making it simple to share photos and updates with parents during their child's day. This works well to keep Parents of infants and young toddlers have the beneift of a closer connection throughout the day with texting. This does not interfere with quality of care as there are opportunities for teachers to communicate with parents of infants and young toddlers during the day via text than for teachers in the 2 Year Old Nursery School - Kindergarten.
