Students with Additional Service Needs
The Burlington Academy of Learning welcomes and embraces all children. We coordinate with parents and professional service providers to help identify appropriate resources based on each child's individual needs. We work hand in hand with families, area school special services teams, and private providers to ensure children receive the support and services they are entitled to throughout their educational and developmental journey.
Professionals may provide occupational therapy, physical therapy, and speech services within a child's classroom. Socially and emotionally, every child grows in direct response to how they are accepted and treated. We believe it is important to teach children that each person is inherently worthy and possesses unique gifts. When children receive love and acceptance for their differences, they learn that "normal" is a matter of perspective and develop a positive outlook toward themselves and others.
We also educate our students about the range of special needs and abilities of other friends in order to cultivate understanding, appreciation, respect, compassion, and consideration for all children and adults.

Region 10 Special Services
The Burlington Academy works closely with Region 10 Special Services to support children utilizing Region 10 programs and services. We stay informed of service updates and collaborate on ways our teachers can support each child's Individualized Education Plan (IEP). Our teachers communicate with service providers and may attend IEP meetings when beneficial.
Children may ride the bus or van between The Academy and their Region 10 school-year or summer program. In addition, Speech, Language, and Occupational Therapists provide professional development opportunities for our teachers to help ensure our classroom practices support and align with those of Region 10.
