Montessori Junior Kindergarten and Kindergarten
Ages: Junior Kindergarten and Kindergarten Students
Hours: Monday - Friday, 8:30am - 6:00pm
Our Montessori Junior Kindergarten and Kindergarten Program offers an alternative to traditional public school education while providing the unique benefits of a combined-age classroom. Children learn alongside peers at different developmental levels, fostering leadership, collaboration, confidence, and respect for individual learning styles.
Through hands-on experiences, active exploration, self-directed learning, and purposeful play, children develop independence, problem-solving skills, creativity, and a lifelong love of learning. Activities are designed to meet children where they are developmentally and encourage growth at their individual pace.
Learning Through Exploration
Each day begins with a Morning Meeting that helps build community and establish a sense of belonging within our School Family. Children participate in literacy, math, calendar, weather, and character development activities while gaining responsibility through classroom jobs and routines.
During Choice Time, children explore learning areas such as Writing, Reading, Science, Art, Sensory Exploration, Blocks, Puzzles, and Games. Through these experiences, children develop critical thinking, creativity, concentration, and independence while building skills in literacy, mathematics, science, and social studies.
Our literacy program includes guided reading with Reading A-Z leveled readers, journaling, phonemic awareness, sight word development, and the Handwriting Without Tears program. Hands-on math activities and our JK/K Store help children apply mathematical concepts in meaningful, real-world ways.

Enrichment Opportunities
Children enjoy a variety of enrichment experiences that support the development of the whole child, including:
- Spanish instruction
- Sign Language
- Music and Movement
- Bi-weekly Music Enrichment
- Artist and Composer of the Month
- Environmental Education

Character and Social Emotional Development
Character development is woven throughout the curriculum, with monthly themes focused on values such as honesty, respect, gratitude, fairness, responsibility, determination, and kindness.
Children also participate in the Second Step Program, which promotes social-emotional growth through lessons in cooperation, empathy, communication, problem-solving, and conflict resolution.

Building Confidence Independence
Our goal is to strengthen each child's academic, social, emotional, and practical life skills while fostering confidence, autonomy, responsibility, and compassion for others.
Most importantly, we strive to nurture capable, curious, and confident learners who are prepared for future academic success and inspired to become lifelong learners.
